We were honored to have a visit by Ida May Oakes Forbes who worked at Bell in the 1940s installing rivets in airplanes. She an her family visited the museum where she shared stories and saw many familiar things among our exhibits. We were even able to have her visit the old Bell Aircraft factory where she had worked.
Ida Mae, 94 years old during her visit, recalled that only five of the workers were allowed to work downstairs where the black curtains blocked the view as she worked on the plane in the classified section. Her family said that she had told them nothing about her time a Bell as she had been told that she could not mention what she did there.
We were honored to have her and her family spend time with us! See more pictures from her visit below.
