On October 26, 2019, we had a full day of activities to honor and celebrate Western New York’s contribution to breaking the sound barrier.
Our visitors and members joined us in celebrating this aviation first and it’s Western NY roots. Just down the street from our museum, in the Bell Wheatfield plant, is where the aircraft that made these historic flights was designed and built. We had a talk by an engineer who worked on the historic rocket plane and a presentation by a local aviation historian on the accomplishments of all the Bell x-planes.
